I am Heloisa Corrêa. In my artistic practice, I explore both my own personal sensations and experiences, as well as those that are universally human. I intensely absorb all external perceptions, process them, and use them as the foundation for my painting. These impressions evoke thoughts, feelings, or memories from my own life, or tap into universal human experiences. I translate these into my abstract visual language, thereby creating compositions comprised of organic or strictly geometric forms.
Color holds a special significance in this process. Luminous hues contrast with one another or meet with earthy, muted tones. Each chromatic chord generates a unique sense of tension, harmony, or movement. An intense red emerges as a recurring element—an energetic pulse that sets the entire work into visual vibration. For me, it symbolizes energy, vitality, and life in all its complexity.
My work is influenced by the geometric abstraction of Serge Poliakoff and the color-dynamic explorations of Sonia and Robert Delaunay. These references serve as a crucial starting point for the development of my own visual language.
In my practice, I seek a balance between conscious control and intuitive process. My abstract compositions emerge through a dialogue: I make a mark, the painting responds, and I react in turn. In this way, I follow an inner rhythm—a dynamic interplay between order and chaos that is set in motion during the painting process and ultimately leads to a result that feels authentic to me. Thus, a work is created that unfolds between these two poles, standing as a metaphor for life itself. Each painting carries a message—one that cannot be expressed in words, yet can be intuitively understood.
I have lived and worked in Berlin since 2012. I was born in Brazil and studied Fine Arts at the University of Caxias do Sul (Brazil).
